Sports Injuries
Injuries have plagued athletes for centuries. Back in ancient times, if you had an injury such as an ACL tear you would not be able to participate in a sport ever again.
There are two different types of sport injuries, Overuse and Acute.
There are several places where injuries take place. They take place in the bones and muscles. They occur in joints, where the bones meet. Ligaments, which hold the bones together at the joints, are another area where injuries occur. The Cartilage, Meniscus, Bursae, and Tendons are other areas where injuries occur.
The Cartilage is the gristly tissue found at the end of bones. They help to absorb the impact and friction of rubbing bones. The Meniscus are flat cartilage that stabilized joints. It absorbs schlock and releases synovial fluid. The Bursae are small packs of fluid located where stress and friction occur. Their job is to reduce impact. They are found between bones, muscles, and tendons. Tendons connect muscles to bones.
