History of Sports Medicine
Throughout the long history of sports there has been Sports Medicine. The topic was first invented in Ancient Greece by a Greek Physician called Herodicus. Today, Herodicus is known as the Father of Sports Medicine. Today we can see how medicine has evolved since Ancient Greece to the world we know today. People went from using herbs and wine to heal wounds to stitches and surgery.
Currently the United States is the largest country in the world practicing and teaching the idea of Sports Medicine. The largest Exercise Science Organization, the American College of Sports Medicine, is located in the United States. The University of Virginia in Charlottesville and Stanford University in California are the two largest colleges that teach Sports Medicine in the United States.
