Overuse Injuries
Overuse injuries are injuries caused by from a repeated action, like a repetitive strain injury. Overuse is the opposite to Acute injuries, which occur at an instant.
Some common Overuse injuries are Tendinitis, Neuritis, and Stress Fractures. Here is a list of Overuse Injuries.
Tendinitis:
This is small tears in the tendon fibers. Tendinitis is caused by repetitive stretching.
Neuritis:
The inflammation of nerves.
Cartilage Irritation:
Caused from continuous impact or friction damage.
Osteochondritis:
These are loose bodies in the joint area due to repetitive grinding of ends of the bones. Sometimes pieces of the bond can break off into joint areas.
Bursitis:
Repetitive trauma to bursa sac.
Overuse Compartment Syndrome:
When the muscles are too large for the walls that encase them, due to intensive training with no rest. These can cause shin splints.
Stress Fractures:
Tiny cracks in bones surface. These are caused by repetitive rhythmic motion.
