Acute Injuries
An Acute injury is a injury that suddenly occurs that is usually cause by a traumatic event such as colliding with another player during a sport. When these happen, your body undergoes changes during this period and often its a negative one. The impact can cause either of your bones to crack, muscles to tear, or ligaments to snap.
These are some common acute injuries.
Fractures to bones:
These injuries are open. The bone breaks surface and closed, however it breaks beneath the surface.
Strains:
A strain is a stretch, tear, or complete rupture of a muscle of tendon.
Sprains:
A sprain is a stretch, tear, or complete rupture of a ligament.
Bruise and Contusion:
This is bleeding in the muscle fiber due to a blow to the muscle. This can cause a Hematoma, which is a swelling that is filled with blood and is caused by a break in the wall of a blood vessel.
Dislocations and Subluxations:
Dislocations occur when the ball of joint is removed from the socket or the joints separate. Subluxations occur when the ball pops out and goes back in.
Hemobursa:
When the bursa sac fills with blood due to a violent impact.
Comparment Syndrome:
This is sudden massive bleeding in the muscles. This requires immediate surgery.
